At the start of rush hour on Friday, December 9th, Bedford Fire and EMS were dispatched to South Bedford Road in the area of the I-684 ramps for a reported motor vehicle accident with extrication.
Arriving Bedford PD and Car 2041 updated the location to be between the Exit 4 ramps and Baldwin Road, on South Bedford Road proper.
An SUV was located on its roof into the guardrail, with the sole occupant self extricated prior to arrival Ambulance 52-B2 with two paramedics from Westchester EMS evaluated the patient, who was eventually treated and released from the scene.
Bedford Fire crews from Rescue 44 and Engine 110 established a new traffic patten on the roadway, and began clean up of a large debris field along South Bedford Road. A wheel assembly from the vehicle was also found across the street and removed from the scene. Traffic was closed momentarily while Speed Timing flipped and towed the car, and NYSDOT was notified for a compromised guard rail.
Units remained on scene for roughly and hour before returning to service. |
