On Friday night just after 10:30 p.m., members of the Bedford Fire Department were finishing up at the annual Mount Kisco Fire Department parade when the tones began to stack for a possible structure fire at 91 Hickory Lane. A quick response confirmed a working fire through the roof of the 25 x 50 foot one story structure, and additional tankers were requested to the scene from Katonah, Armonk, and Banksville, in addition to the ones from Pound Ridge and Bedford Hills already en route. An additional tower ladder from Bedford Hills, engine from Pound Ridge, FAST team from Mount Kisco, and medic from WEMS were requested to fill out the assignment, per Battalion 16.
Operations remained defensive as the night went on, and a water supply was established with the help of source Engine 108 at the pond between Seminary Road and the Village Green. Fire police with Rescue 31 from Mount Kisco assisted in controlling traffic while a supply was established between the source and the fire.
The fire was brought under control in a matter of hours, and eventually extinguished. All Bedford units were returned to service by 05:30 the next morning. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
